As a former ballet dancer, fitness was of the utmost importance to Katie’s lifestyle. Physical fitness was easy to find, but most activities lacked the mental fitness that Katie craved. For her, a ballet class was as good for her mind as it was for her body, and when she discovered yoga, she finally had that same feeling. That mind-body connection, made her go back again and again to yoga class.
Katie practiced many styles of yoga for about 10 years. She often thought about taking that next step and becoming a teacher. In the fall of 2017, she was taking a class from Kim Saunders at Lift Yoga and Body and Kim mentioned the Yoga Teacher Training immersion course that she would be leading in the spring of 2018. Katie had just put her 4th child into kindergarten and decided that it was finally the right time to become a yoga teacher. She enrolled in Kim’s teacher training course, and completed her 200 hr RYS in May 2018. Katie has found her passion in teaching. She loves the interaction with her students and the creativity of putting together a class; from the first hello to the final savasana.
Katie is originally from La Crosse, WI. She obtained her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Iowa and her Masters of Science in Nursing and Health Administration from the University of Minnesota. She worked in cardiac care and family birth centers during her career as a nurse. She and her husband, Travis, and their 4 children moved from Minneapolis, MN to Milton in the fall of 2016. They love the weather, of course, and the kind and loving people are an added bonus!
