Rachel began practicing yoga in 2000 after her best friend college recommended she try it. Her first experiences with yoga was Bikram Yoga, she loved the heat but struggled with enjoying the sequence. After a little searching she stumbled upon a Baptiste Affiliate Studio in DC. It was love at first practice. The heat combined with movements for the first time really got her out of her head. After just a few practices she could already feel a difference in herself physically and mentally.
Rachel is from Northern Virginia, a suburb outside of DC. She moved to Atlanta 11 years ago. Rachel received her undergraduate degree from Syracuse University in social work and received her graduate degree from NYU in Clinical Social Work. Before teaching yoga she was licensed clinical therapist and worked with individuals, groups, and families. Rachel received her first 200 hour certification at PeachTree Yoga in Sandy Springs and then continued on her studies with Baron Baptiste to complete his level 1, 2, Art of Assisting, Advanced Art of Assisting, and to help work alongside him and his team as an Assistant in a level one training. Rachel has also trained with Sean Corn, Dana Flynn, and Bryan Kest. Rachel is excited to continue her education in February where she will be attending her 500 hour RYT in Bali specializing in yoga therapy, Ayurveda (sister science of yoga), and shamanism.
Rachel is a possibility dealer. She believes anything is possible if you put your mind to it! She brings this energy and enthusiasm to each practice. Her classes are filled with creative sequencing that will challenge you in new and exciting ways. Her goal is to leave each student empowered in their bodies, calm and grounded in their mind, and connected to their spirit.
