A native Californian, Kim began practicing yoga at 12 years old when her sister gave her a book on Iyengar poses as a gift. Now as a psychotherapist, yoga teacher, yoga therapist and teacher of teachers, she loves to create a joyful, uplifting experience whether in a vinyasa flow, a restorative yin practice, and a strengthening barre class. She wants you to feel great when you walk (float!) out the door.
She has completed thousands of hours of study with some of the finest teachers including Bryan Kest, John Friend, Susan Hopkins, Seane Corn, Deepak Chopra, Dharma Mittra, Robert Steinbacher and many others. She is the first Certified International bodyART Instructor in Georgia.
I considered teacher training for 5 years and promised myself I would do it before I turned 40. If not for Lift, I am not sure I would have been able to keep my promise. I am proud that I was able to complete my training while doing a full-time job. I have gained in depth knowledge and have gained immense confidence. This has been a turning point in my life. I have learned the importance of the journey inward. Yoga for me transformed from mere asanas to a Lifestyle. I thank Kim for all her support and knowledge she gave me, as well as the community she has formed at Lift.
I had contemplated Yoga Teacher Training for quite some time, but it wasn't until I met Kim at Lift Yoga that I made the decision to go for it! I wanted a nurturing environment, a teacher who was truly authentic, compassionate, and a safe soul through which I could explore my thoughts, experiences, and emotions. Kim's gentle spirit, acceptance, and wisdom created the environment I had been seeking. I'd finish my training weekends feeling like I had received hours of therapy and it made my heart happy! I graduated feeling equipped to use all that I had learned to go out and teach, inspire, and make a difference. I am incredibly grateful for Kim and all that Lift Yoga provides for our community.
that is yoga. This teacher training is a fascinating buffet, where you will get to sample so many diverse aspects of the practice, from attending kirtan concerts, meditation workshops, pranayama instruction, chair yoga, and restorative yoga. You will also go in depth with the physical aspects of the practice, enhancing your understanding of anatomy, alignment, and safe sequencing of poses. The history and Philosophy of the practice is also explored in depth, and applying the eight limbs of yoga to my personal life has been an opportunity for deep personal growth. On the business side of things, this is a wonderful way to network and make meaningful contacts with fun, likeminded people. Since finishing the training, I have been given the opportunity to teach at a studio, school, community center, library, and tropical resort! Whether you plan on teaching, or are just interesting learning more about the amazing practice of yoga, this training is for you. Kim and Sue create a nurturing and supportive environment that fosters personal exploration, and you will grow so much in mind, body, and spirit!
